Backstage Radio (“we”, “our”, “us”) is operated by Show Works Ltd, a company registered in England. This privacy policy explains how the Backstage Radio mobile application (“the App”) collects, uses and protects your information.

Information We Collect

Audio Recordings

The App allows you to record voice notes for song requests. These recordings are created on your device and are only shared when you choose to send them via email to our studio. We do not automatically collect or upload any audio recordings. Microphone access is only used when you actively tap the record button.

Streaming Data

When you listen to Backstage Radio, our streaming server may log standard connection data such as your IP address, device type and listening duration. This data is used solely for monitoring stream performance and is not used to identify individual users.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

• Mixcloud – On-demand content is hosted on Mixcloud. When you open a show, you are directed to the Mixcloud app or website, which is governed by Mixcloud’s own privacy policy.
• Apple iTunes Search API – Used to fetch album artwork for currently playing songs. No personal data is sent to Apple through this service.

Information We Do Not Collect

The App does not:

• Require you to create an account or log in
• Collect your name, email address or phone number
• Use analytics or tracking tools
• Use advertising or ad tracking
• Share any personal data with third parties for marketing purposes
• Store any personal data on our servers

Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions:

• Microphone – To record voice note song requests. Only activated when you tap the record button. Recordings stay on your device until you choose to send them.
• Internet – To stream live radio, load the schedule, fetch on-demand content and retrieve album artwork.
• Notifications – To send optional reminders when your favourite shows are about to start. You can decline or disable this at any time.

Data Storage

Voice recordings are stored temporarily on your device and are deleted after sending or when you discard them. The App does not store any personal data on external servers.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
